How To Wall Mount Your Plasma TV

So, you got your family a brand new, flat screen LCD or Plasma television. Congratulations. You probably have that lucky wall ready to mount it on in your bedroom that will quickly become your sanctuary. There's just one question remaining - How to wall mount your flat screen TV?

The first thing you must consider is whether you are planning to hire a professional or mount it on your own. If you're unclear about any of the following, you should probably play it safe and hire someone else to take care of the job. However, if you would like to dirty your hands and possibly make a couple of mistakes and miscalculations just to have a sense of accomplishment, then by all means, read on, brave one.

After you've picked out the wall and reserved an hour or so to get this job done, you should then figure out if that wall is an interior or exterior wall. While it isn't the case all the time, walls that are on the interior will usually give you fewer problems than walls on the exterior.

Of course, we know that you have previously made sure that your flat screen LCD or Plasma TV actually can be mounted, right? In the event that you have not done this yet, you don't need to fret. Be aware that though many of the flat screens now on the market are in fact wall mountable, there are a few early models that aren't. Be sure to check the box. Can you see “VESA Compatible” or some variation of that? Then you're in luck, and now you can go ahead. And, because you have done some homework and picked out the proper wall mount bracket for your display, you can go right to the exciting part - the tools. If you have at least some of the basics in your home, such as a screw driver, drill, and a tape measure, you're doing alright. It is also a good idea if you have a stud finder to be sure you don't wind up mounting your TV in just drywall.

Once you have a basic idea about where you would like the television, look for studs and make some placement changes. You shouldn't forget to be sure that you are by an electrical outlet or You'll have a unusable TV screen on the wall. Once you have found a stud, you can secure the wall brackets to the back of the TV screen. Take care of this before attaching the TV mount on the wall so you know if any alterations need to be made to the ultimate mount placement.

When adjustments are made, make marks the places where anchor bolts will need to be installed and drill the holes, because they are often challenging to start. Also, go ahead and cut out a space for cabling at the time you place the anchors and then run the cables. Make sure the mount is level and sink the anchors. Once the brackets and mount are installed, ask a buddy for some assistance to lift the screen on wall. You aren't going to want to try to do this alone because units can be fairly cumbersome and heavy when being lifted alone.

Now the best part - sit down with a cool drink and watch a movie on your new wall mounted flat screen TV.
